iPhone 4 Price India Bangalore

With the launch of iPhone4 in India. It is priced at a whooping Rs. 34,000/- Which makes this phone unreachable to most of the iDevice lovers. Or rather the people who are in the medium income segment.

Recently, one of my friend was very curious about Airtel and Aircel officially launching the phone in India. But looking at the price, it was a BIG no to go for one. Few days back, he came to know about an offer by UniverCell, Bangalore (Cellular Phone outlet). They were giving away smart phone priced greater than 4k's on EMI for 6 Months (Zero % interest) for HDFC Credit Card Holder.

A good way to own the overpriced phone, he did buy the phone (on 3rd June, 2011) and is paying Rs. 34,500/- over a span of 6 Months. That comes to Rs. 5,750 ~.

So what's stopping you now?

iPhone 3GS - Airtel - Connectivity Problem

I took Airtel Rs. 98 Data Plan (2GB Free, Bangalore, Karnataka) on my iPhone 3GS. The plan is too attractive to be ignored. Now that I have been using it for a while. I have started facing problem with respect to connectivity. It does have the "E" symbol on top always, but in background, its good for nothing. The connection goes off and I do not get any notification for Emails and from applications like Facebook or Meebo.

Every now and then, I need to either Switch off and on the phone to get notifications, or I have to go to:

Setting -> General -> Cellular Data and reset the connection by swiping through Off and On.

This does resolve the problem. But its quite irritating, if you are expecting important emails and if you want to stay connected via Facebook or Meebo.

Now have moved to Airtel 3G plan (Rs.200 for 250 MB free usage). Not much to update on that as its been 2 days. Will keep you all posted.

Are you facing similar issues?

Updated: 25th April, 2011

Now that I have used Airtel 3G for a month. I feel its the same issue with 3G connectivity as well. :( And the resolution remains unchanged; Cellular Date On/Off. Speed and coverage is not at all consistent, atleast in Bangalore.

The 250 MB limit is sufficient atleast for me, I just use "Facebook" "Meebo" and "All India News". Since I have Wi-Fi connectivity at home I end up downloading New Apps and Updates from there instead of 3G. That saves a lot.

I have already placed a request to discontinue with 3G and moving back to Rs. 98 Data Plan (2GB Free). Only if connectivity was consistent I would have continued, I didnt find any point paying an extra 100 buk.

BSNL 3G - Got Fooled

Being a Vodafone Karnataka Customer, I will not be able to enjoy 3G services, as it did not get a bid for this circle. The other day I stumbled upon a BSNL 3G counter @ Banashankri BDA Complex which had big banners "FREE SIM CARD". It instantly attracted me like a magnet. :D Enquired about the offer and it was too good to be true. 49 Paise for ALL the calls, and 50 MB free / Day for next 6 months. YES, 50 MB free / Day for next 6 months.

I repeatedly asked the guy at counter, "Are you sure ? 50 MB / Day" and with the amount of confidence which he said "YES". I got convinced instantly. ;)

And here I am now. Forget about 50 MB Free / Day. Not even a single byte was free in that. :( and I have no way to track back the person who sold it to be.

Have you encountered something similar? Please help.

iPhone 3GS - huh !!

I was lucky and fortunate enough to get an iPhone 3GS as a gift from my brother. I got my vodafone India iPhone plan activated. It was working fine as its a factory unlocked version straight from apple. Being a BlackBerry user, was a bit reluctant to switch to iPhone. But with all the hype around and since I was getting it from free. I had not second thoughts. ;)

Already using it, but I am yet another, "unhappy" customer of the phone. Its not a rugged phone and keep craving for power (battery drains like water from tap). I have to charge the phone every date, inspite of not using services like : Location Services, 3G and keeping the brightness at the minimum. :(

Sacrificing, all this is acceptable. But hold on. There is another problem. My phone shows full network reception. But when people try to call me, I am always unreachable. and SMSes, I get them after hours huh. I am sure its a problem with the phone, as I never faced this issue while using BB.

With all this, I am very confused, shall I switch back,or continue with iPhone (the features are too attractive) to bargain with BB.
